To Frog or not to Frog?

Eugh!!! I was getting on so well with Calisto, the pattern was just perfect and I was sure the yarn was right and it would look great.

Easy knit and adapted the pattern as I thought I wouldn’t have enough yarn, got into a bit of a tangle when I tried to undo two rows at a time whilst on needle. But all seemed alright.

BUT as I got nearer to the end I began to think that it was going to be HUGE when it came off the needles and my euphoria began to subside. Would it be so big that I couldn’t wear it? There was only one way to to find out so it was off the needles and round my neck – Speaking of frogs we seem to be getting quite a few brought indoors especially in the evenings by another member of the household – he who is black and white and a bit special. No it’s not a murder on the TV but a serial killer on the loose in the kitchen!

“Me? No I would never do anything like that”  but the evidence is for all to see – hopping round the tiles screaming.

But back to the main question to frog or not well let’s see

It looks too big even without the fringe so I guess it will be frogged and re knitted on a smaller needle and less stitches. 4=1inch so maybe 180 stitches instead of 220. What do you think?

Instrument of torture

Different Lines finished! I’m really pleased with the way it drapes and the colours, daughter had it on most of yesterday evening. My friend who modelled in the Pics liked it too.

Can’t wait to find the right yarn to knit for myself.

So tried to knit a row of Queen of Spades (see previous blog) but not feeling it so yarn from stash is calling.

Bought this on my last USA trip along with several other unusual yarns in a little store called Great Balls of Yarn. Been waiting to find the right pattern and it looks like Calisto will be the one so I have got the instrument of torture out!

Well it could be a rack but no it’s a wool winder – Amish style, really easy to use and in no time 3 skeins are balls and we are ready to rock and roll.

So Calisto started 9mm needles so should be a fast knit so watch this space.

Finish Line in Sight!

Well I said Different Lines was an easy Knit and I’m on track for a PB and OR on this one. Started last week I’m on the last short row stripe and just have the border to do!! Daughter waiting patiently to try. Will be working flat-out this afternoon. The problem is which project to do next? There are several waiting.

The finish line did not materialise, final border half completed hey ho there is always today. Daughter’s work experience and training the dog seem to have taken over! Let me introduce you to Guinness a terrier cross adopted from Battersea earlier in the year, couldn’t think of a new name so it stuck but he looks like Dobbie to me now.

Olympic medal for knitting

My first ever blog so here goes – knitting the Queen of Spades during the Olympics in 1ply from I Knit or Dye  proved difficult, not only was the yarn extremely fine I had to watch the pattern!!

A change of tack was needed and an easier knit so have started Different Lines by Veera Välimäki using Ziggy Stardust by I Knit or Dye. This is definitely an Olympic knit!! Should get the Gold Medal in this category!!
